After you've installed your Cisco Webex Desk or Room Series device, you’re ready to start using it. With your device you can call to meetings, collaborate and share content from your laptop, and stay connected with your coworkers.

Didn’t find the installation guide in the box? You can find them here:Cisco Webex Room Series, Cisco Webex DX Series, Cisco SX Series, Cisco MX Series.

Start collaborating,To make calls on a Room Series device, you can use your mobile device, Touch controller, or the remote control. The SX10 and SX20 come with a remote control. The Room Kit, SX80, and MX series devices come with a Touch controller. On the DX70 and DX80 you can use the integrated touchscreen.

Camera Settings

Before calling, you can check your self-view to see how you look. Navigate to the camera icon on the home screen and adjust the camera position as needed.

On Room Kits the camera is fixed and it automatically tracks the speaker. The camera finds the best view of the room based on the number of participants. You can tilt the camera manually to adjust it to the correct starting point.

For more details, see the camera settings articles for Access and Adjust Self-view .

Cisco Webex App automatically connects to your device

When you are in a room with a Cisco Webex Room Device, your Webex app automatically connects with it. Once the connection is established you can use the app to start calls on the room or desk device, and share your screen wirelessly.

You can see if the app is connected, when the device name shows up on your app. Select the device name and Share on device to start sharing your desktop with others.

Turn on automatic connection on your app if it has been turned off. You can find it under Preferences on your desktop app and under Advanced settings on your mobile app.

When you turn off the app or leave the room, your app gets disconnected from the device. Disconnecting can take up to two minutes.

The app discovers devices by listening for an ultrasound signal, or by detecting nearby devices based on Wi-Fi information. The Wi-Fi discovery works if your Webex admin has enabled it.

The app, and connecting to a room or desk device, works with both Windows and Mac, and most Android and iOS devices.

Turn on automatic connection on your app if it has been turned off. You can find it under Preferences on your Mac and Windows app, and under Advanced settings on your iPhone, iPad, and Android app.

Allow recording on your iPhone, iPad, and Android device.

For the automatic connection to work, you can only have one room or desk device that uses ultrasound in a room.

Make calls

You can start your calls using your remote control, Touch controller, or from your connected Webex app.

When the Webex app is connected with your Desk or Room Series device, you can use it to start and receive calls. Start a call by tapping the video call icon in a space or use the Call menu to find your contacts.

You can transfer calls from your Webex app to your device when you’re on the move. When you’re close to a room or desk device and your app connects to it, just swipe the call screen down to transfer the call from your app to the device. Swiping the call screen up transfers the call from a room device back to your app. For more details, see Make Calls on Room Devices with the App article.

To make calls using a remote control or Touch controller, open the Call menu from the home screen. You can either search for contacts in your directory, or use a video address to make a call. Start and end calls with the Call and End buttons. Or you can use the red and green buttons on the remote control.

For more details, see Make Calls with the Touch Controller and Make Calls with the Remote Control articles.

Share content on your Desk or Room Series device

You can use your device to share content both locally in your meeting room and in calls with remote participants. You can connect your laptop to the device with an HDMI or VGA cable, or you can use your paired Webex desktop app for Windows and Mac to share wirelessly.

For more details, see Share Content on Room and Desk Devices article.
